Red tide, Blue Green Algae and Lake Okeechobee discharges are huge issues in SWFL right now.
I wanted to try and bring some clarity to this issue for myself, my friends and local SWFL residents.
I was lucky enough to be connected with Associate Professor James Douglass of Florida Gulf Coast University. He currently works for the Department of Marine and Ecological Sciences.
He has been in our area for 6 years studying the eco system and shared his knowledge of the current situation.
We discussed many topics in this video, ranging from what has happened, why it happened and what we can all do to help prevent it from happening again.
